Club History

The club was founded in 1994/1995 season and was originally called Shirley Town Ladies. Before becoming known as Solihull Ladies FC the core of the team had been part of Shirley Town, Woodbourne Ladies, Billesley Ladies and Solihull Glades.

In our first season as Billesley Ladies the team finished 3rd in Division 1, reached the 3rd round of the Birmingham County Cup and progressed to the semi-finals of the West Midlands League Cup, only losing in a penalty shoot-out to Willenhall Ladies.

The 1999 / 00 season saw the team win the League Cup and finish 2nd in the division, missing out on the championship by just 1 point, but earning promotion into the West Midland Premier Division.

In 2001 / 2 the team moved to The Glades Football Centre, changed our name to Glades Ladies and consolidated our place in the West Midland Premier Division. Unfortunately 2002/03 was not the best of seasons, which meant we had to start again in division 1 for the season 2003 / 2004.

In 2003 / 2004 the club changed its name to Solihull Glades to give the team a geographical identity. This season was to prove to be an exceptional one for the Solihull Glades team, winning the Division 1 Central championship. The team also reached the county cup semi-final only losing to West Bromwich Albion Ladies in extra time.

In the closed season, Solihull Glades entered the Bustleholme 6-a-side tournament winning the tournament by beating Wolverhampton Ladies in the final.

2004 / 2005 saw the team consolidate our place in the West Midland Ladies Football League Premier Division finishing 5th. It was also the season that saw the club expand. With a growing number of players from Solihull Borough a second team was created and entered into the Birmingham County Womens League Division 2. The development of the club resulted in a ground move and a name change with both teams called Solihull Ladies FC.

In 2005 / 2006 Solihull Ladies 1st team progressed through the preliminary qualifying rounds of The FA Cup and for the first time in the clubs history competed in the1st round proper. They also finished 9th in the Premier Division.

The newly formed 2nd Team finished the season unbeaten and became Champions of Division 2. This completed the treble for the team following their victories in the Open League Cup and the League Shield finals. The season was completed by winning the Solihull Sports Council Team Of The Year Award.

In the closed season, Solihull Ladies entered the Headless Cross 5-a-side tournament winning the tournament by beating Fairfield Villa in the final.

2006 / 2007 saw the 1st team playing their most consistent football. This resulted in their highest ever league position, finishing 4th in the Premier Division. A tough away draw at Birmingham City early in the County Cup bought a halt to any cup aspirations.

Following their promotion to division 1, the Reserve team consolidated their position by finishing 5th. They also reach the quarter finals in both the league shield and open cups.

In the closed season, Solihull Ladies entered the Withymoor 6-a-side tournament coming runners-up to Copeswood Ladies.
